My previous post mentioned a quote from FOSI, the international non-profit Family Online Safety Institute, part of which says that we should encourage kids to be an “up stander”, not a bystander. FOSI believes “up standers” are children who stand up against negative actions and character online as well as those who make a difference.

Ten-year-old Nyeeam Hudson is a prime example of an “up stander.”

Under the moniker King Nahh, Hudson’s a motivational speaker who spreads a positive message of self-love and confidence to other kids and parents through his speeches and Instagram page, which has over 60,000 followers.

Hudson uses his social media footprint to spread positivity and education to others his age and older. The young speaker covers topics like confidence and bullying.

In one of his most recent messages, which was posted on Sunday, Hudson talked about how a bully made fun of him for wearing FILA sneakers. His response was way beyond his years:

“It’s not about what I have on my feet, it’s about what I have inside my head,” he said in the video. “No matter what I’m wearing, what I have on it’s about my information, the knowledgable things in life. These sneakers are not even going to fit you 20 years from now.”

He also posts about self-esteem, as he did here:

“King Nahh” has become vastly popular as of late. He is planning to use this internet fame to produce a book which he then hopes to take on a tour. On tour he will be teaching students around the country about positive thinking and being an internet role model.

Many parents are afraid of allowing their kids online and thus keep them from it, but with proper guidance and education they can use social media to make a difference.
